What is a Lifestyle Blog?
Lifestyle is a niche on its own right now. And a lifestyle blog is a way of sharing your life experiences and your interests through digital content.
Basically, it’s your very own blog about your everyday life.
If you feel you have something interesting and helpful to share from your life, a lifestyle blog is a perfect option for you.

If you feel you can inspire people with your life experiences and provide them with any kind of advice or solution, you should definitely start a lifestyle blog.
What Types Of Lifestyle Blogs Are There?
There are many types of lifestyle blogs, the list could go on and on. This is because they can be about pretty much anything and everything.
What separates a lifestyle blog from a regular blog is the fact that you have much more freedom to expand into various subjects and niches.
What I would recommend is to start with one niche. Even though a lifestyle blog is blogging about your day-to-day, the competition today is fierce.
Nobody will come across your blog randomly, because it’s going to be buried under so many blog posts. That’s why you need to start with a specific category for your blog posts.
Before you step into the lifestyle blogging world, you should definitely take a look at what’s out there. See what types of other blogs, specifically, lifestyle blogs there are. What people are writing about, what are they expanding to, how are they integrating their everyday life into it, and most importantly, how are people reacting to it?
Here are some examples of the most popular lifestyle blog topics:
- Fashion
- Beauty
- Health & wellness
- Food & drinks
- Fitness
- Music
- Parenting
- Home decorating
- DIY’s
- Finance
- Photography
- and many more…
So, if you want to start a lifestyle blog that revolves around fashion, fashion is your main niche. From that, you can then expand to how you came across the idea to start a fashion blog. What fashion represents in your life? What does it mean to you? You can give fashion advice to people, start trends, discuss various collections. You can review fashion brands. Talk about people in the fashion industry that inspire you.
Now, how do you expand from your main niche?
This is one example; you have many types of models, like skinny models or plus size. And from that fact, you can advise people what to wear depending on their figure. And you can recommend how you stay in shape. This is how your fashion blog starts expanding to fitness-like topics, or to food topics if you have a diet you recommend.
You can expand to photography as well.
From one lifestyle blog niche, you have the freedom to connect to many other niches.
Your blogging journey begins with one niche, but as your blog grows, you’ll have much more blog post ideas.
How To Choose The Perfect Lifestyle Blog Niche For Yourself?
We all have many interests, so it’s hard to niche down. But what is necessary for you to choose the right niche for yourself is to choose something you know very well.
If you’re serious about starting a lifestyle blog of your own, you need to pick a topic you’re comfortable writing about. And writing about it long-term.
This can be a topic you’re an expert at, or it can be an interest of yours. Whatever it may be, it needs to be something you won’t get bored with within a few months.
That’s why it’s necessary to think about this before you throw yourself into the world of lifestyle bloggers. So, take your time, really consider your options, because there are so many.
You need something you can constantly talk about, so it has to be a topic that is active in your life. A topic of constant improvement. A problematic topic people need a solution for. Something you can really experiment with within the long run.
So let’s say you worked as a cook. If you’re passionate about food, and its preparation, it’s only logical to start a food blog. But, if you worked as a cook and you have the experience to start a food blog, but you got sick of your job, starting a food blog would be a bad idea.
It doesn’t matter if you’re really good at something if it’s no longer interesting to you. You need to write about what you love.
When you write about a topic you’re truly passionate about, it will shine through your content. People will enjoy it more because they’ll see that you’re genuine. Writing about what you love gives you the opportunity to inspire people.
When your content is filled with love, it’s going to reach people easily and keep them tuned in. With good, authentic content comes an audience that always has room for expansion.
If you choose a topic you dislike, and you find it hard to write about it, people are going to notice that. Your enthusiasm about the topic makes your content stand out or fall off the grid.
If you’re forcing yourself to write a blog post on a topic you don’t like, your content won’t be that good. It will be just chaotic, messy words floating around something that should be a lifestyle blog, but it’s not. At least not a good one.
In order to produce regular, high-quality content, you need to be motivated. If you choose the wrong niche, you can say goodbye to a successful blog.
You don’t want people to read your content and think about whether or not someone held a gun to your head while you were writing it. If you’re not inspired by the niche, and by the blog posts you write on it, how do you expect to inspire people, or to keep them reading and engaging in your lifestyle blog?
So even if it takes a while, carefully consider what your main niche for your lifestyle blog is going to be.
Always take a look at what others in your desired niche are doing, and see if that is something you can work with.
There are many lifestyle bloggers today because lifestyle blogging has gone from being a hobby to a job where you are your own boss. It’s difficult to almost impossible to find a niche that isn’t over-saturated, but that’s why whatever niche you choose, you need to present your own take on it.
Your perspective and your unique story are the only things that make you stand out from other lifestyle bloggers.
Of course, if your passion or field of work isn’t something that’s all around the web, your chances of rising above are better and stronger. But, almost everything you can think of is covered, but what the hey, if you’re creative enough to think outside the box, go for it. This can only work in your favor.
Don’t be afraid to open yourself up to people. The emotion you bring to this crowded space is the reason why someone will eagerly wait for your next blog post.
Why Would You Want To Start A Lifestyle Blog?
How do you know if a lifestyle blog is a project that will work out for you? Well, if you’re passionate about writing, there’s no reason not to become a lifestyle blogger.
But if you need a small nudge to help you decide whether lifestyle blogging is what you want, here are some of the pros:
It’s A Great Wat To Release Your Thoughts
Writing, in general, is a great way to feel heard. It’s a great way to express yourself and by doing that, you empty out the space in your head so you can come up with more great ideas.
By venturing into lifestyle blogging, you’ll see how many people face certain issues that you were coming across in your life. By sharing some of your everyday experiences, you will be providing people with support and potential solutions.
Being able to help and inspire people just by sharing your thoughts is an amazing feeling. Your experiences can be a lesson to people, they can be a guiding light.
And by letting all of this out and sharing your opinions, you’ll feel better because your voice is coming across a mass of people and it’s a voice that means something to them. A voice that provides value.
Your World Will Revolve Around The Things You Love
Choosing a niche is up to you. So choose something you love.
This is the same as it is for work. You’ll be way more efficient and happy if you work at a job you like, rather than being miserable while you’re stuck in a job you have no interest in.
Having an audience of people who are passionate about the same things you’re passionate about will surround you with positive energy.
When you talk about the things you love, you’re happy. So always talking about the things that inspire you will just give you space to be better and better in every aspect of your life.
When you’re happy, you’ll grow.
You’ll Constantly Be Better
When you start your own lifestyle blog, you’re writing about something you’re already interested in or good at. And when you start writing, you’ll have a couple of blog post ideas, but when you decide to run a lifestyle blog, you need to think ahead. You can’t allow yourself to run out of ideas.
Want to get more blog subscribers and build your fan base? Download my free guide "Get Your First 100 Fans" Click here to get the guide.
What I mean by that is, in order to keep your lifestyle blog moving forward, you’ll always need to investigate and learn more.
You’ll always strive to do better and to be better, and while doing that for your audience, you’ll be doing that for yourself as well.
You’ll be improving in your niche every step of the way, by learning more and more. You’ll be able to develop new ideas, new approaches to common problems, etc.
And not to mention, you’ll improve your writing skills along the way. When you start your lifestyle blog, you’ll see what works and what doesn’t after a few blog posts. And when you know what approach works for your audience best, your writing style will keep on rocking and rolling in that direction.
The more you write, the better you get.
And with a wide variety of topics, working on your lifestyle blog will always be interesting.
You’ll Have The Opportunity To Become An Influential Person
As an influencer, you can affect the lives of other people. You can be responsible for someone’s life becoming easier and better.
Having an influence on others takes time. You need to build trust with your audience for them to see you as someone they want to listen to and as someone who they want to believe. You need to prove to them that your content is beneficial to them.
And although this takes time, if you’re serious about becoming a lifestyle blogger, you will find that having any kind of positive influence is very rewarding.
Maybe your advice or your review on something can help someone make a better decision than they would have.
You’ll Have A Lifestyle Blog To Showcase
Even if you start your lifestyle blog as a hobby, and even if you decide to keep it that way, that venture alone can look pretty good on a business resume. Let’s say you’re hunting a position for a content writer; having your own lifestyle blog will come in pretty handy.
Or if you’re applying for a job in the niche of your lifestyle blog, your blog can enhance your level of expertise in that field. Because while you’re constantly writing about any subject, both your knowledge and understanding of the subject get stronger.
And apart from this being a professional perk on your resume, it’s also considered a fun hobby, and it shows your personality, how open you’re towards people, and how devoted you’re to helping people.
You Can Connect With Many Like-Minded People
Isn’t it refreshing to share stories with people who relate to you?
Your lifestyle blogs are not only a unique experience for your audience but for you as well. When your audience engages in your content, you’ll see what a special relationship that is.
These relationships are meant to be nurtured. Who knows how many awesome people you’ll stumble upon in the process, and while you’re inspiring them, they can inspire back with their achievements.
Also, when you embark on this journey, you’ll get to know other like-minded bloggers and you can all get a chance to cooperate, support each other, discuss lifestyle topics, and learn from each other.
You can get in touch with people through social media channels. Overall, this can be an amazing experience for everyone if you give it your best.
You Can Make Money With Your Lifestyle Blog
Lifestyle blogs have the potential to make a lot of money. And I’m not just talking about making a passive income, but you can very well live from the income your lifestyle blog makes.
Don’t worry, we’ll go over ways to make an income while starting a lifestyle blog in the later sections. For now, I just want to let you know that it really is possible.
Digital content is something we digest a lot of on a daily basis. There is a lot of competition, but that doesn’t stop you from having a cut of the cake.
Making money with your lifestyle blog takes some time, and it takes a lot of effort, but if you want to be consistent, it will surely pay off. It will allow you to have a job you enjoy doing, and you’ll be able to become the master of your financial destiny.
Eleven Steps On How To Start A Lifestyle Blog
So the big question is how to start a lifestyle blog? And how to create a successful lifestyle blog? I know it might seem hard and overwhelming, but believe me, it only seems that way. That’s why we’ll go through all the necessary steps on how to start a lifestyle blog and be a master at it.
Pick The Purpose Of Your Lifestyle Blog
Think of this as preparation for your lifestyle blogger career. What do you want to achieve with your blog?
Some people write because they want to share their personal experience, some write because they want to share their expertise on a specific topic, some write because they want to share their opinion on a specific product or service that is out there. And some of them do all of the above.
So, what would your lifestyle blog purpose be?
Personal Experience
In this case, you would be writing about things you came across throughout your life. The good, the bad, and the ugly.
The highlight of talking about your personal experience in your lifestyle blogs may not be your day-to-day lives, but some specific moments. Things you think people can relate to.
These things can be pain points, or they can be some beautiful memories or events, or they can be something funny.
If you feel like there are people who might be interested in what you say, go for it.
If you think you can inspire people with what you’ve gone through, go for it.
If you think you’ve been through a problem that people crave the solution for, go for it.
If you think you can crack someone up with your stories, go for it.
Whatever it is that you hold valuable, that’s what makes you unique.
The readers will capture your emotion, and it will drive them towards the blog.
Remember, in lifestyle blogs, you’re the subject. Everything revolves around how you do things, what you think about things, so it’s in your best interest to be 100% YOU.
Professional Experience
If you’re really good at what you do, and you have the passion to teach it, you can use your blog as a learning platform.
Your own experience with the matter is what will separate you from others in your niche.
You can provide people with the how-to from your own professional standpoint. You can start with why you got into the field of work in which you are today, how the learning process was for you, how you feel about this area of work in your life, what you’ve discovered; all hacks, tips, and tricks.
You will be talking to a specific group of people that can relate to what you have to say, so you can provide them with the knowledge, the advice, and the motivation.
You’ll have all the freedom in the world to talk about the job you love, without your friends going man, this guy is boring. And I tell you this from experience. I feel so happy when people finally get their dream job. This is such a transformation. And you can be the reason for somebody’s transformation through your blog.
That emotion somebody has when they are excited about their job is just transitional. It’s something so rare to see, and so genuine that it can serve as a huge motivator.
Review
If you always like to try out new products, you know how disappointing it is when you just don’t get what you’re promised. So if you don’t want anybody to go through that, you can always use your blog to write review-type blog posts where you’ll talk about the product genuinely.
You can review just about anything. There are so many digital products, let alone physical ones. And you can review both. So, it doesn’t really matter if you want to review a new online course or a brand of canned food.
The only thing you need to know here is that it will take time for people to get to know you and eventually trust you. And in order to maintain a clean and honest relationship with your audience, review products you have tried out yourself. Don’t ever succumb to secondhand experience. Because it can be wrong and you’ll lose all the trust you’ve had.
Better to have an honest review of two products, than to have 50 with no real, or even worse, wrong information.
And it’s not only about if the products are good or bad.
You can review many products from the same categories, and just share your opinion on the best one.
It’s important that you give people details because many people struggle with making a decision, and you should be flattered if they come to you instead of flipping a coin. This means they are interested in what you have to say about it. They respect your opinion.
Pick A Lifestyle Blog Niche
There are so many lifestyle blogs and so many niches to choose from. So what are the questions that will help you determine which niche is the right fit for you?
Want to get more blog subscribers and build your fan base? Download my free guide "Get Your First 100 Fans" Click here to get the guide.
What Are Your Interests?
What are the things you find interesting? What drives you? Is there something you’re really passionate about?
This can be a hobby of yours, or it can be your work. For example, you can be interested in human behavior and have a lifestyle blog that revolves around that. You don’t have to be an expert of the mind in order to share your thoughts on this topic or similar topics.
Of course, nobody is interested in one thing and one thing only, but from asking yourself this question, you will be able to make a finer selection of what your lifestyle blog can be about.
What Are Your Skills?
What is something that you can do exceptionally while also enjoying talking about it and perhaps sharing your knowledge on it with others?
Can you offer advice in this field of expertise? And can people benefit from this advice?
How does a lifestyle blog revolving around this skill benefit you?
Who Do You Want To Target?
Who would be your target audience?
A few tips from me would be to try to target a broader range and don’t go too generic, as it’s harder to separate yourself that way.
For example, if you’re a stay-at-home mom, you would mostly target women in the same situations that are looking for women they can relate to. If you’re a single dad, you would target men that are looking for either support or advice. If you’re a student, your audience will mostly consist of other students.
Maybe you’re a passionate musician, and your audience would be other musicians and music lovers.
But if you were to choose a category like fitness, your audience would be much, much broader. Because it doesn’t matter if you’re male, female, young, or a bit older, everybody wants to stay fit.
So I would advise not to jump into a niche that’s too narrow or too broad. Because a niche too narrow will not get you many target readers and a niche too broad will have you covering many topics at the same time, and that can feel overwhelming. And you don’t want anything stopping you.
So do you have to succumb to only one specific niche? No. You can choose a couple. But by doing that, you must acknowledge that every extra niche is extra work.
It’s good to start out with one specific niche, and then expand, because it decreases the chances for you to get overwhelmed and fall off track.
What Are You Inspired By?
What is something that inspires you? What is something that got you out of the dumps?
Were you at any point not motivated and got back on track by opening yourself up to getting inspired? Can you help others get inspired by your story?
Share what helped you, and seek new ways to inspire your audience.
What Holds Value In Your Life?
Are you a family person? Do you love love? How important is finance for you?
Discuss things that are valuable in your life.
All these valuable life gems are things that can be discussed over and over again. And are highly relatable.
What Subjects Do You Talk About In Your Inner Circle?
Things that you talk about with your nearest and your dearest are definitely the things that are important, and/or interesting. These ‘family and friends’ topics can always set off a spark.
Revealing these topics of discussion sends out a sense of realness to your audience. It’s just like the show about Jerry Seinfeld, where they are discussing everyday situations that some people might be ashamed of, but we all encounter them. And that brings a human touch to your new blog.
Pick A Blogging Platform
There are many blogging platforms to choose from, both paid and free platforms.
Wix, Squarespace, Blogger, and WordPress.com are some of the free blogging platforms. Keep in mind that apart from the free blogging platform WordPress.com, there also exists a premium version, the self-hosted WordPress – WordPress.org.
I, personally, use the self-hosted WordPress website and let me tell you, it’s no wonder everyone recommends it. Everybody uses WordPress, so it’s a great place to create a successful lifestyle blog.
So many websites online use WordPress, and each day there are more and more WordPress websites created, and their visitation is just off the charts.
WordPress is widely known and used, so there are instructions online on basically anything. There are many plugins for it, many themes, both free and paid, and it’s always developing in order to provide an even better user experience.
A free platform sounds great, I know, but not everything can be done on the cheap. Because if you go cheap now, expenses will wait for you later down the road.
What Are Self-Hosted And Hosted Blogging Platforms?
A hosted blogging platform is a platform that gives you the necessary tools to launch your blog for free. With that, you get the basic features, themes, and gadgets.
Free blogging platforms have some serious drawbacks when it comes to your blogging experience and reader experience. These are some of the drawbacks:
- You’ll have a really ugly domain: Your website would be hosted by someone else, so your domain would have the extension of the host. For example, if I was using a hosted platform, the URL to my blog would be servenomaster.wordpress.com. Doesn’t that suck? It’s way too long.
- Features will be limited: You’ll have a limited amount of storage, and if you need more, you’re going to have to pay up. The website that’s your host can place whichever ads all over your blog, while you’ll have few if any monetization options.
- You’ll have a lack of technical support and control over your site: The thing is most sites aren’t used as much, so there isn’t much support you can get.
- You don’t own it: When you’re not your own host, you have zero control of your blog. Your host can take down your blog at any point, and for any reason they seem fit.
A self-hosted blogging platform lets you have full control over your blog. You have more storage, you can upload high-quality media, you can choose if you want to place ads, and where to place them.
You have so many themes to choose from, so many plugins to try out. You can customize a self-hosted blogging platform however you like. And there are no limits to monetization.
So if you really want to follow the path of successful lifestyle bloggers, I recommend you self-host your WordPress blog.
Pick A Domain Name For Your Lifestyle Blog
In this step, you’ll have some thinking to do. Your domain name should in some way convey your blog’s message. Since this is how people will hear for you and how they will search for your blog, what you want to do is to keep it simple.
Your domain name should be short and crafty. Something that isn’t hard to spell or pronounce, so it’s easy to remember.
And make sure to always go with the .com domain. This domain is available everywhere, and it’s the most common one.
Choose a domain name that will not limit you in the future. As a lifestyle blogger, you’ll want to expand to more topics of discussion and your name has to be adaptable.
So, let’s say you have a WordPress blog that revolves around you playing the guitar. And the name you’ve picked out is guitarsomething.com. Your blog would belong in the music niche. But if you ever want to expand to playing the bass guitar, or any other instrument, that would be a problem because of the name.
Make sure to have a name that encapsulates what your new blog is about but that doesn’t limit expanding in the future.
Use your creativity here, play with words. Add extra words if needed. You can choose your free domain, and you can also pay for one if you really like it, but I would advise against that. This is very expensive and can create confusion because a website with this name existed and if you buy it, it’s going to be a whole different thing, and that can confuse people.
So definitely go for unique.
If you’re having trouble with this, you can always use name-generating tools to help you out.
Pick A Web Hosting Service For Your Lifestyle Blog
Your new blog needs to be stored on a server, so I think Bluehost is by far the best web hosting service. Of course, there are other web hosting services like GoDaddy, DreamHost, and others, but I would recommend using Bluehost.
Bluehost’s basic plan has basically everything you need to start out. After you choose your domain name, register with Bluehost, pick the hosting package and the extras, fill out the payment information, and create your account, it will install WordPress.
Pick A Theme For Your Lifestyle Blog
After you install WordPress, and you find yourself on the WordPress dashboard, it’s time to customize your WordPress site by picking out a theme. There are free and paid themes. But again, I would recommend you to use a paid, premium WordPress theme.
So why is a free WordPress theme not as good as a premium theme? Well, a theme will change the way your blog looks. So you want to go for a clean and professional design.
The design should attract your target audience. There are many WordPress themes to choose from, but in most cases, free themes don’t provide you with full customization.
Go with premium themes because they have unique designs that you can later customize more to your liking.
Free WordPress themes are usually not responsive on other devices, while premium themes work on all devices.
The security is enhanced on premium WordPress themes, and it will protect your site from malicious codes.
Paid WordPress themes provide customer support, which will do you good if you’re someone who is not tech-savvy.
And a premium WordPress theme is SEO-friendly, and that’s what you want.
Before you buy any WordPress theme, you can look at reviews to make sure that this is the right theme for you. If you’re looking for my recommendation, it’s WP Astra. That’s the theme I use for all of my sites, including this one and my membership sites. It’s very fast, easy to modify and great for SEO.
Create A Logo And The Necessary Pages
The three crucial pages for your WordPress blog are:
About page
This is a very important page for your WordPress lifestyle blog. This is the page people will land upon to see who you’re and where you’re coming from.
You should write something about yourself and why you started this blog, what are your hopes for it.
So be 100% you here, let your personality shine through the about info, so people can see right at the beginning what they can expect. Be friendly. Explain why your blog is the place to be.
You can also include a picture, so people can get a feel of who they are reading about.
Contact Page
This is necessary. You want people to get in touch with you.
You can leave your email, your social media links, if you’re comfortable, you can leave your phone number and business address.
Have a contact form people can fill to get emails from you and updates on new posts.
All this information is crucial in order to have a better relationship with your followers. Also, when you get to the monetization part, you want businesses and individuals to contact you either to buy your products or to cooperate with you.
Legal Pages
No matter where your blog is hosted, you will get visitors from around the world and they bring the laws from their country with them. You need to be compliant with USA laws, European Union laws and Brazilian laws. You need pages with your terms, privacy policy, cookie policy, affiliate policy and other requirements that come online as new laws are passed. The easiest way to do this is with a 3prd party tool like Complianz who stay up to date with international law and keep your website updated for you.
Get The Necessary Plugins
WordPress plugins allow you unlimited customization of your blog page. You can find crazy amounts of plugins in your WordPress dashboard.
When it comes to plugins, I think the most important ones are plugins for search engine optimization and for analytics.
Your blog needs to be optimized for search engines in order for you to get more traffic. And it’s okay if you’re not an SEO expert because that’s what the plugins are for.
Analytics is super important because you need to know what works on your blog and what doesn’t. These analytics let you see how people got to your blog. Was it because you popped up on Google, or was it through social media?
How long do people stay on your blog? What page is getting the most views? Is the bounce rate high? Where do they click most? What keywords should you use?
You get all these analytics that are easy to follow, so you can see what are the optimal conditions for your blog and how you can reach them. Are your blogs too short? Are they boring? Or are they just too long and people give up on them?
Pro tip: Always use pictures or short videos between blocks of text. Images tend to make the text look less long. Also, inserting any kind of media throughout your text can improve SEO. If you have the time and the equipment, you can use your own pictures, or you can pay for stock images, just make sure the quality is good.
All this is important because you’ll know what you need to work on in order to get more readers. For any new site, here are the plugins I recommend to beef up your security and handle your SEO needs.
- RankMath (free version) – this will handle all of your seo and analytics needs
- WordFence
- Sucuri
- WP Rocket
- Imagify
Start Blogging
How to start a lifestyle blog, you ask? When you do all the things stated above, start writing blog posts. I know that the first post gets you excited and overwhelmed at the same time, but resist the temptation to shorten the process by launching the blog with having only that one post.
In order to avoid overwhelm, create a content schedule. You don’t have to post every day, but you need to be consistent. It can be once a week, once a month, twice-weekly… whatever suits you. But whatever you choose, you must follow through.
So I would advise you to have at least 5 to 10 blog posts ready before you launch your first post. This will give you more space to focus on promoting your blog while not worrying if you’ll manage writing posts on time.
Promote Your New Lifestyle Blog
When you finally launch your blog, start spreading the word.
Here are some ways you can promote your blog:
Share with friends and family
The first and easiest thing you can do is to get the buzz about your blog going through word of mouth.
So inform everyone you know that there’s something awesome to check out, and then they can support you by sharing your blog with their inner circle, and that’s the cycle that needs to be repeated.
Create social media profiles and spread the word
Share a link to your blog on your personal social media channels.
You can also create social media accounts just for the blog, where you can promote it best. So, leverage Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Pinterest.
Use everything you can. But if you can’t commit to posting regularly, create accounts for social media you can manage.
For example, Instagram is great for visuals and short stories in which you can announce a new blog post. And Pinterest is awesome to hook people into visiting your blog through effective pins.
Share in groups, forums, guest post on the best lifestyle blogs you can find
There are many Facebook groups and forums online discussing new blogs, so you can leave the link there and see how much traction it gives you.
Another awesome way to boost your visibility is to cooperate with a successful lifestyle blogger and guest post on their blog. This will give you credibility and people that follow this blogger will check you out because they trust his recommendations.
Always improve your SEO strategies
SEO is always improving, so in order to get more traffic, you must stay on top of all current strategies.
Create an email list
Since you’re at the very beginning of your blogging journey, you can send emails to all the contacts you currently have asking them to check out your new blog.
You can definitely provide some additional content of value to people in exchange for their email. This is how you can start building your email list.
Monetize Your Lifestyle Blog
Now we’ve come to the fun part; How can your blog bring you money?
Well, there are several ways to go about this, such as:
Affiliate Marketing
My personal favorite. You just write about products you used and loved.
You don’t need to create anything. You just write a genuine review on a product and the product owner will provide you with your affiliate link. Insert the link into your blog post and when someone buys through your link, you get a commission.
Sponsored Posts
Businesses often reach out to successful bloggers with a proposition; you promote their products through your content.
Now some businesses give you pre-written articles you should publish about their product, but I would recommend staying away from that. It’s way better for you to write sponsored posts while marketing products you already like. It will have your tone and therefore be much more natural.
In return, the business will either supply you with free products or give you some amount of financial compensation.
Sell Your Own Products
If you decide to create a product of your own, you can offer it to your audience.
Google Adsense
The only thing you need to do is to make your ad space available and Google AdSense will place high-paying ads on your blog.
Google AdSense works by placing ads for products on your site based on your content and your visitors. When one of your visitors clicks on the ad on your site and purchases a product, you get paid.
Final Verdict: Lifestyle Blogging, Yay Or Nay?
If the idea of blogging gets you excited, if you’re passionate about writing and connecting to people, you belong in the lifestyle niche.
Why shouldn’t you lead a business life that’s so inspiring?
Your lifestyle blog will take some time to take off, but once it does, it will pay off. And doing the work you love and really experimenting and having fun with it will be the compensation for all of your effort.
Remember, getting to a profitable lifestyle blog takes one step at a time, but take the time you need to actually enjoy the process.
