1 Understand what your readers want in a blog post
As a blog writer, it’s important to know what your readers want to read about. After all, your readers are the reason you’re writing in the first place! There are a few key things that your readers are looking for when they visit your blog.
First, they want to know that you’re an expert on the topic at hand. They’re looking for insights and information that they can’t find anywhere else.
Want to get more blog subscribers and build your fan base? Download my free guide "Get Your First 100 Fans" Click here to get the guide.
Second, they want to be entertained. Your readers want to enjoy reading your blog, so make sure to keep things interesting!
Finally, they want to feel like they’re part of a community. When your readers feel like they’re part of a group, they’re more likely to keep coming back for more.
Knowing what your readers are looking for from a blog we can start to come up with blog post ideas they will want to read.
There are a few ways to find out.
- Ask them directly – Send out a survey or poll asking what kinds of topics they’d like to see covered on your blog.
- Analyze your content – Look at your most popular blog posts and see what topics seem to be resonating with readers. You can also look at the comments section of your blog to see what readers are talking about and what issues they’re interested in.
- Look at the competition – look at the most popular posts on blogs in your niche and use those for inspiration. Look for the posts with the most views and comments.
- What are they searching – Use keyword research tools to see what terms your potential readers are typing into search engines the most.
By taking the time to understand what your readers want, you’ll be able to create content that is more likely to engage and interest them. And that’s what blogging is all about.
2 Blogging takes time
Blogging can be a great way to share your thoughts and ideas with the world, but a blogging journey does take time. Every successful blog post begins with an idea, and developing that idea into a well-crafted article can take time and effort.
In addition, every post must be promoted in order to attract readers, and this promotion takes time and planning. As a result, blogging is not something that can be done on the spur of the moment.
If you’re serious about success, you need to be prepared to invest the time required to make your blog a success.
Blogging Tips to Get Started
If you’re a complete beginner the most important advice I can give you is to keep it simple. There are tons of tools for SEO and keyword research and article optimization and millions of WordPress plugins and themes.
A new blog doesn’t need those. It’s actually quite easy to go back through a year’s worth of blog posts, tweak the keywords, add more images, and re-optimize them. When you’re starting out keep your writing process simple and just develop the habit of writing content.
Be Proud of Your Own Blog
You own your blog and that means you have complete editorial control. You don’t have to write posts that you don’t like. I see big search terms that could bring me a ton of traffic on topics that don’t interest me. I would rather be proud of my blog than have people reading articles that I don’t believe in.
If you stay true to your core beliefs you are much more likely to stay long enough to make your blog successful.
Create How to Blogging Tips Articles
People love listicles. It’s one of the easiest ways to get started and that initial traffic boost. Top 7 this and 5 unbelievable facts that. There’s a reason that every clickbait website uses these headline format. It works.
People find this structure irresistible and the sooner you start using it the faster your blog will grow.
Avoid Free Blogging Platforms
It’s temping to setup your first blog on platform like Blogger. T ha’ts the free blogging platform that I use way back in 2007. The problem is that you don’t own your content. You have no control over your website, you can’t monetize your blog and you are renting space on someone else’s property.
Starting a blog is about $40 a year if you register your domain with Namecheap and host your blog with Bluehost. It’s worth the investment just to have the possibility of success.
3 You can invest time or money
There are two ways to grow any business, you can invest your own time into learning how to do things and doing them yourself or you can invest in tools and other people doing the work. You can hire other writers to create posts for your blog. I’ve done that myself…but it’s easily the content on this site that I am the least proud of.
I often go back and re-write those posts to bring them up to the quality that I can create on my own.
The middle ground is to invest in blogging tools that make you a faster or better writer.
These are the tools that I use to write every single blog post. They help me to write better content that is more seo optimized faster. I’m only interested in tools that make me faster, make my content better, or improve my search engine results.
Ubersuggest
While there are a lot of keyword research tools out there, I recently switched to Ubersuggest because it’s the best option for what I need. They free version of the tool is more than enough for a new writer to start getting more blog visitors. And unlike the competition, you only pay for the software once. There is no monthly recurring fee when you upgrade to the paid version.
Ubersuggest is a user-friendly research tool that helps content creators to optimize their blog posts for SEO. It generates keyword suggestions based on your target audiene and real-time data from Google, Bing, and Amazon, making it an invaluable resource for online marketers.
With Ubersuggest, you can quickly and easily find high-traffic keywords that will help your blog posts rank higher in search engine results pages.
In addition, Ubersuggest provides detailed information on search volume, competition, and CPC, making it easy to choose the right keywords for your blog post.
My favorite feature is that I can enter the URL of another website in my blog niche and it will generate a list of keywords that I can rank for. It’s so much easier than coming up with keyword ideas on my own.
Jasper
If you’re a blogger, then you know how important it is to publish content regularly. However, finding the time to sit down and write can be a challenge. That’s where jasper comes in.
Jasper is a artificial intelligence-powered assistant that can help you with everything from coming up with ideas for blog posts to writing the posts themselves. Jasper’s AI engine is constantly learning, so it gets better at understanding your needs over time. And because jasper is integrated with popular blogging platforms like WordPress and Blogger, using it is a breeze.
When I first heard about AI assistance with writing blog posts I thought it was silly. I finally tried a few and Jasper is the only one that came close to impressing me. When used correctly it’s one of the best tools for writing a new blog post. Jasper gives me a list of ideas, topics and a rough draft to work from. I usually rewriter 80% of what Jasper writes, but that cuts my blog post writing time in half.
Every post I’ve written since 2022 started in Jasper and it’s made my writing process significantly faster.
SurferSEO
Surfer is a blog post optimization tool that can help you to get better results from your SEO efforts. Surfer is good at one thing – blog post optimization. Everything Surfer does is called “onpage seo.” That’s the seo work that happens inside of your website.
This simply means making sure that each individual blog post has its own unique and keyword rich title, meta description, and permalink.
By doing on page SEO, you’re helping to ensure that your blog post is as search engine friendly as possible.
By analyzing the content of your blog posts, surfer can identify which keywords are most relevant to your topic and make sure that they are included in your post in a way that is both effective and natural-sounding.
In addition, surfer can also help you to optimize your blog post for other factors, such as the length of your post and the inclusion of relevant images.
As a result, surfer can help you to ensure that your blog posts are as effective as possible and that they reach the widest possible audience by increasing your organic traffic.
Whenever I write a post using Surfer, it ranks higher in the search engines and I get more traffic to my blog. I’m a big fan of this tool. If you can’t afford Surfer, start with the free Rank Math plugin. Here is a video I created comparing Surfer SEO to Rank Math
ProWritingAid
As a full time writer, ProWritingAid is one of my most critical tools. I has a ton of features that are WAY too extensive to fit into one blog post. Basically, it checks grammar and every other technical aspect of your writing to make you a better writer. Unlike the pervious tools, it cares nothing for SEO or keyword optimization. It only cares about high quality writing.
They have an amazing plugin that checks your grammar in real time and is better than any built-in spell check. I have it checking my posts as I work on them in Jasper, Surfer and my WordPress backend. If you’re going to get a paid tool, grab the lifetime license. If you can’t afford that just yet, start with the free version of Grammarly. I have an entire Grammarly Review you can read.
4 Just Do It
This is the most important of all these blogging tips. If you’ve been thinking about starting a blog, there’s no time like the present. blogging is a great way to share your thoughts and ideas with the world, and it can also be a fun and rewarding hobby. But if you’re still on the fence about whether or not to start blogging, here are a few reasons why you should take the plunge:
For one, blogging is a great way to improve your writing skills. Whether you’re a natural wordsmith or you need to brush up on your grammar, blogging is an excellent way to practice and hone your craft.
Additionally, blogging can also help you develop a unique voice and perspective that can be enjoyed by readers from all walks of life.
Another reason to start blogging now is that it’s an great platform for connecting with like-minded people. Blogging allows you to connect with people who share your interests and experiences, and who can offer support and advice on the topics you’re passionate about.
Additionally, blogging can also be a great way to make new friends and expand your social circle.
It’s easy to get caught up in fear and use that to justify inaction. There is always the possibility of failure but not blogging gets you the exact same result so you might as well start now and worry about getting better later.

5 Write a Vision Statement
A vision statement is a powerful tool that can help organizations to define their goals and bring them into focus. By setting out a clear vision of what they hope to achieve, organizations can inspire their employees and lay the foundation for long-term success. Additionally, vision statements can help to clarify an organization’s values and purpose, providing direction and motivation for everyone involved.
It might seem like you don’t need a vision statement until your a large company, but the opposite is true. You dont’ become a large company unless you have a vision statement.
A vision statement will give you a test to compare each blog post idea to. You can use this standard to say “does this content fit the vision of this blog?” This will help you stay true to yourself.
Vision Statement Examples
Here are a few examples of blog vision statements to help get your creative juices flowing. Feel free to pick and choose from them to create the first version of your vision statement. I have written a long post on vision statements to help you refine your rough idea into a laster focused single-sentence masterpiece.

Once you have an idea for the direction of your blog coming up with ideas is going to be a lot easier. You now know the direction your blog is going.
6 Stay up to date with the latest trends
Keeping up with the latest trends is essential for any professional blogger. Not only will it help you to produce fresh and relevant content, but it will also ensure that your blog remains popular and relevant.
There are a number of ways to stay up to date with the latest trends.
One way is to subscribe to industry-specific newsletters and websites. This will give you a front-row seat to the latest trends, allowing you to quickly adapt and incorporate them into your blog.
Another way is to attend blogging conferences and events. This can be a great way to network with other bloggers and learn about the latest trends.
Finally, don’t forget to follow popular bloggers on social media. By keeping an eye on what others are doing, you’ll be sure to spot new trends as they emerge.
7 Write Consistently
It’s no secret that consistency is key when it comes to successful blogging. When you write blog posts on a regular basis, you build up a readership of loyal followers who appreciate your content. Not only that, but consistent blogging also helps to improve your writing skills and allows you to experiment with different voices and styles.
It can be challenging to maintain a consistent posting schedule, especially if you’re dealing with writer’s block or other creative problems. However, there are a few simple tricks that can help you stay on track.
First, design your personal writing process. What time of the day do you write the best? What’s your favorite writing location? How can you get into the writing zone?
I break my writing down into phases. I’ll do a bunch of keyword research out a big list of ideas and topics for future blog posts.
In the second phase, I’ll look for the terms with the most traffic and the lowest difficulty. I’ll plug those ideas into Surfer to see how long each post needs to be. If I can get the same traffic with a 1500 word post as a 7,500 words post like this one, I’m going to write the shorter post first.
From that list of great ideas, I’ll start plugging topics into Jasper and creating rough drafts. I can usually create 5-10 rough drafts in a session while watching a movie. Since Jasper is doing most of the writing, I don’t have to be fully engaged.
Then it’s time for my fourth phase, where I do my writing. I’ll pull a post from Jasper into Surfer and re-write the whole thing. This is the most mentally intensive phase. Depending on the blog post length, I may write two short posts back to back or I may only finish half of a post before I need a break.
Once a blog post is green in Surfer (that means it’s optimized). I’ll pull it into my blog and finalize the formatting, add images, do all the social media backend stuff and prep the post for publishing. I’ll use the Surfer WordPress integration to check the final score of my article to see if there are enough images and the article is ready to go.
I then schedule the post and go back to an earlier phase. Each of these phases do take time, but by splitting them up this way, I can batch ideas and do different tasks when I’m in the mood.
I really encourage you to separate your writing into a few phases so that you can do what you feel like more often. I have always loved having a bunch of draft posts in my WordPress backend as ideas. When I feel like writing I want ideas to choose from waiting for me.
8 Produce high-quality content that is engaging and interesting
There is a lot of content out there. And with new blogs and websites popping up all the time, the bar for what constitutes quality content is always getting higher. So how can you make sure that your blog stands out from the rest?
We’ve already covered part of the process by talking about a vision statement and only writing content you believe in. This will give you a good direction. Using a tool like Surfer will help you write content that’s the length your audience is looking for.
Finally, write content that you’d want to read. What is your favorite part of a blog or a textbook? For me it was always the blue or orange block with the personal story of the farmer that taught the math lesson in a practical way.
I just love when I get to know the author, which brings me to our next tip.
9 Include yourself when writing blog posts
As a writer, one of the best ways to connect with your audience is to write about topics that are important to you. By including yourself in your blog content creation, you can add a personal touch that will help readers connect with you on a more personal level. In addition, sharing your own experiences can help to provide valuable insight into the topic at hand.
When done correctly, writing about personal experiences can be an invaluable tool for both writers and readers alike.
However, it is important to strike a balance between sharing too much and sharing too little. Too much self-disclosure can come across as self-indulgent, while too little can make it difficult for readers to connect with you on a personal level.
Therefore, it is important to find a middle ground that allows you to share enough of yourself to create a connection with your readers without revealing too much. By striking this balance, you can create content that is both engaging and informative.
Ask the following questions to find that balance.
- Is this something I’m comfortable with my worst enemy knowing? This will keep you from posting your address or the name of your kids school without thinking.
- Does this story improve the core message of the content? Personal information should always be there for a reason. All the personal content in this article is about how I use certain tools, my writing process and how I blog. All of that is relevant to the topic, whereas writing about my wedding day doesn’t fit the content.
If your content fits between these two lines, it’s probably adding value to your content.
Readers are more likely to connect with a piece of writing if they can see a bit of the writer’s personality in it. That’s why it’s important to include yourself in your blog content.
By sharing your own experiences and perspectives, you’ll help your readers to see you as a real person, rather than just a pair of disembodied hands typing out words on a screen.
In addition, including yourself in your work will also make it more enjoyable for you to write. After all, who knows you better than you do? So don’t be afraid to let your personality shine through.
10 Update Your Blog
Your blog is a live, breathing document. It’s not a book that is printed and then unchangeable. You can change your blog host, software, platform, niche, content and design whenever you want to. It’s ok for your blog to change directions as long as you have a clear idea of waht appeals to your target audience.
Update Your Blog Design
If you’re like most bloggers, you want your blog to look its best. After all, first impressions count, and you want your readers to stick around. One way to keep your blog looking fresh is to update the design regularly.
This doesn’t mean you need to completely overhaul the look every few months, but simply making small changes – such as a new header or background – can make a big difference. Not only will it give your readers something new to look at, but it will also show that you’re keeping up with the latest trends.
A new design can give your blog a whole new look and feel, and it can also attract new readers. When choosing a design for your blog, consider your audience and what kind of message you want to convey.
If you’re aiming for a professional look, then a simple design with clean lines and subdued colors may be the way to go.
Conversely, if you’re hoping to create a more personal blog, then you might want to experiment with brighter colors and more playful fonts. Ultimately, the most important thing is to choose a design that reflects your individual style.
I update my design about every two years. It always takes longer than I want and I end up doing a massive overhaul that takes months. When updating the design I’m also constantly trying to speed up my site.
Speed Up Your Blog
Load time is crucial for a successful blog. If your site takes too long to load, readers will likely click away before they even have a chance to see what you have to say.
Additionally, Google punishes slower sites because they know readers won’t wait for a slow site to load.
There are a few simple ways to speed up your blog and keep readers engaged.
First, make sure that your images are optimized for web use. Large, high-resolution images can take a long time to load, so it’s important to resize them before uploading. I use a tool called Imagify to shrink and optimize every single image on this website.
Second, avoid using too many heavy plugins or scripts. These can slow down your site significantly. There are a lot of plugins with many exciting features and before you know it your site is moving at a crawl. I’m constantly going through my site and removing unnecessary plugins to speed it up.
Third, switch to a faster host. When you first start your blog, I recommend working with Bluehost. They are very beginner friendly and all you need for a low-traffic blog. When you notice a slowdown, it’s time to switch to Kinsta. They are a more expensive host but they are also significantly faster.
The best way to check your load speeds is with Ubesuggest’s Site Audit or GTMetrix.
Here are a few essential plugins that will make your WordPress blog a lot faster.
Rank Math
This top secret little tool is one of my favorite blogging tips. It costs nothing and automatically improves your website.
Rank Math is an SEO plugin but it does so much more. It’s free and includes all the features you need to optimize your blog for search engines, including automatic keyword optimization, title and meta description optimization, XML sitemaps, and more.
Want to get more blog subscribers and build your fan base? Download my free guide "Get Your First 100 Fans" Click here to get the guide.
Rank Math also makes it easy to control your blog’s appearance in search results, so you can make sure that your blog is always appearing at the top of the list.
All of that is great, but it also includes several monitoring tools to let you know when something is slowing down your site. This is a free tool that I use on all my sites.
WP Rocket
WP Rocket is a powerful caching plugin that can speed up your blog by creating static HTML files of your posts and pages.
WP Rocket stores these static files on the server, and serves them to visitors instead of dynamically generating the pages each time they are requested. This can dramatically reduce the amount of resources required to load your blog, and improve the loading time for your visitors.
WP Rocket also includes a number of other features that can further optimize your blog, such as minifying CSS and JavaScript files, deferring loading of non-essential resources, and lazy-loading images.
That’s a lot of technical speak for saying that it will speed up your WordPress website.
Imagify
Imagify is a plugin that automatically optimizes images for the web, making them smaller and faster to load. Imagify also provides a responsive image solution, meaning that your images will look great on all devices.
That means it will show different images on different devices with different Internet speeds. It gives each visitor the best experience possible.
Choose a Good Blog Host
Hosting can make or break your blog, so it’s important to choose a good hosting company that will provide you with the features and support you need. There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing a hosting company for your blog.
First, make sure that the hosting company offers a reliable hosting service with good uptime. S
Second, ensure that the hosting company offers adequate storage and bandwidth for your blog.
Finally, make sure that the hosting company provides good customer support in case you have any problems with your blog.
When you’re ready to take your blog to the next level, you’ll need to find a good hosting provider. But with so many options out there, how do you know which one is right for you? Here are a few things to look for in a good hosting provider:
- Reliability. Your hosting provider should be reliable, with consistent uptime and fast speeds.
- Customer support. If you have any problems with your hosting, you should be able to get help from a knowledgeable customer support team.
- Scalability. As your blog grows, you’ll need a hosting provider that can scale up with you. Make sure the provider you choose offers plans that fit your future needs.
- Pricing. Of course, you’ll want to find a hosting provider that fits your budget. But don’t sacrifice quality for price – remember, your host plays an important role in the success of your blog.
Bluehost
For a new blog site, I recommend Bluehost. I have a bunch of sites hosted here and the price can’t be beat. I’ve had good experiences for years and I have no problems getting organic search traffic to blogs hosted here.
One of the common blogging mistakes is to spend too much money when you’re getting started. Don’t upgrade until your making money from your blog.
Kinsta
When it is time to upgrade, Kinsta is my favorite provider. Their support is light years of anyone else I’ve ever worked with and for the price there is no competition. Moving my site to Kinsta from another premium provider doubled the speed and I haven’t looked back since.
11 Leverage Email Marketing
Maybe this doesn’t feel like it belongs in a list of blogging tips, but email marketing is a powerful tool that can help you grow your blog. By building a list of email subscribers, you can stay in touch with your readers and let them know about new posts, products, and services.
Email marketing also allows you to build relationships with your readers and create a community around your blog.
In addition, email marketing can be a great way to generate leads and drive traffic to your blog.
Email marketing changes your growth from passive to active. With a blog you have to wait until a visitor finds your site and decides to come back to talk to them. With email you can send a message directly to each subscriber.
Nearly all of my revenue comes from my email subscribers, not first time visitors. If you don’t have an email service, I recommend Mailvio for beginners.
12 Be Strategic
Successful bloggers are strategic. That means taking a systematic approach and putting together a plan that takes into account your goals, your target audience, the competition, and the resources you have available.
It also means being proactive and consistent in your efforts. Simply put, strategic blogging is the process of thoughtfully and deliberately growing your blog in order to achieve specific goals.
This means every blog post should be intentional and related to the other blog posts on your website and tied to your goals for the blog. Posting intentionally is how you build a strong blog.
13 Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Optimization, or seo, is an important tool for any blogger who wants to increase their readership. By optimizing your blog posts for specific keywords, you can make your blog more visible to search engines like Google and Bing.
As a result, your blog will appear higher in search results, making it more likely that people will find and read your posts. seo can be a complex subject, but there are a few simple things you can do to get started.
First, choose a focus keyword for each post and include it in the title and throughout the body of the post.
Second, use relevant keywords throughout your blog’s tags, categories, and menus.
Third, install google analytics on your website to track your results and get better suggestions for future blog post.
When we talk about organic traffic. this means people type something into a search engine, see your blog in the results and click on your website. SEO is how you get that traffic. To make it easier, I’ve already shared my favorite SEO tools with you.
14 Engage with Your Audience
Simply having a blog does not guarantee that people will read it. In order to engage with your blog readers, you need to put in the effort to cultivate a community.
Start by responding to blog comments. Respond to their questions and engage in thoughtful discussion. Not only will this encourage more people to comment on your posts, but it will also create a sense of community around your blog.
When people feel like they are part of a community, they are more likely to keep coming back. And, of course, the more engaged your readers are, the more likely they are to share your content with their friends. So if you’re looking for ways to increase reader engagement, start by being more engaging yourself.
15 Connect with other bloggers and collaborate on projects
Reach out to other writers in your blog niche and build relationships with them. Share their content on social media, and guest-post on each other’s blogs. By working together, you can help to promote each other’s work and grow your respective audiences.
Search engines pay a lot of attention to your outbound links and it’s better to link to a friend than a random article that won’t appreciate it.
One of the best ways to generate more traffic for your blog and build your reputation is guest blogging. Write posts for other people’s blogs with links to your site and get guests to post on your blog. You can never find too many high quality articles and you’d be amazed how rare it is to find a guest blogger who writes quality content.
16 Write Posts that Point to Each Other
When creating blog content, internal linking is an important aspect to consider. Internal links are links from one page on your website to another page on your website. They help users navigate your site and can also help improve your website’s SEO.
Internal linking should be part of your on page seo strategy. Think of a visitor who reads a blog post about bathtubs. If they see a link to an article that’s relevant to them in that post, the’ll click to read your post about showers. That means they spend more time on your website and search engines LOVE that.
This gives visitors to your website a better experience and they are more likely to engage with your log, revisit and join your mailing list.
When linking internally, be sure to use relevant keywords in the anchor text. This will tell Google what the page you’re linking to is about and can help your website rank higher in search results.
Additionally, try to link to pages that are high quality and informative. This will give users a positive experience on your site and keep them coming back for more. If this sounds a little technical, I have a tool that I use to do most of the hard work.
Link Whisper
Linking can be a bit of a hassle, especially if you have a lot of content. That’s where Link Whisper comes in. Link Whisper is a WordPress plugin that makes it easy to add links to your content.
When you finish writing a new article, Link Whisper will show you what it recommends for a related blog post. It will highlight the recommended text in your new article and all you have to do is click the checkbox if you think it’s a good link. You do have to manually check as some of the ideas are not relevant.
Then there is an option to find related blog posts to point to your new content. This means a new article can have old posts linking to it without you manually looking through old posts and making the links yourself. Link Whisper saves a huge amount of time and handles your internal linking needs automatically.
17 Write like you talk
When you write, you should write like you talk. This means using your own voice and speaking in complete sentences. It is also important to use proper grammar and punctuation.
Here’s how you can thread this needle with ease.
I dictate a LOT of my content and then run that content through ProWritingAid during the editing process. It creates a sense of familiarity without a bunch of grammatical errors.
You don’t need any special tools to dictate, I use dictation apps on my phone all the time and they work great.
18 Set Up Your Schema
Schema is an important part of blogging. It helps your blog to be more easily found by search engines, and it can help to improve your click-through rate.
Schema is a code that you can add to your blog posts to help search engines understand the content of your post.
Schema can also be used to add Rich Snippets to your post, which are small bits of information that appear alongside your post in search results.
If you understood what all of that means, then you’re a lot smarter than me. To keep it simple, I use the same free Rank Math plugin to handle schema. I’ve used a few different plugins in the past and this one is the easiest.
Some advanced bloggers convinced me to try Rank Math and I haven’t looked back. You don’t need to understand scheme, you just need a plugin to take care of it for you.
19 Use plugins to make life easier
WordPress plugins are a great way to add functionality to your website without having to code it yourself. There are plugins for nearly everything, from contact forms and social media integration to eCommerce and SEO.
While there are some plugins that are available for free, many premium plugins offer features that can be well worth the price.
There are so many great plugins that it’s easy to overlaod your site. Always look at a tools reputation and if it will negatively affect your site speed before adding it to your site.
Sometimes you can bypass the plugin completely. There are loads of social media sidebar plugins bu that’s silly. I learned how to make clickable images with html and created my own sidebar social media images without adding another plugin to my backend.
20 Secure your Blog
In today’s digital age, it’s more important than ever to take steps to ensure the security of your blog.
Hackers are constantly finding new ways to exploit vulnerabilities, and if your blog is unprotected, you could be at risk.
There are a number of plugins available that can help to secure your blog, and it’s important to choose one that is well-reviewed and up-to-date. Security plugins can help to protect against a variety of threats, including malware, SQL injection, and brute force attacks. By taking the time to secure your blog, you can help to protect your data and your readers’ data from potential harm.
You might think that your blog is small so nobody cares, but that couldn’t be furtehr than the truth. Hackers love to subvert smaller blogs to build up a network to attack larger websites. The easiest way to protect yourself is to install the free versions of these two security plugins.
Sucuri and Wordfence.
Combined they are nearly as powerful as the expensive paid versions.
21 Repurpose Your Content
You probably put a lot of time and effort into each and every one of your posts. But what do you do with those blog posts once they’re published? If you’re not careful, they can quickly become lost in the sea of content on the internet.
You can repurpose your blog posts to ensure that they continue to be seen and read by your audience. For example, you can share them on social media or use them as guest posts on other blogs.
You can also create an ebook or an email course from your best blog posts. By taking the time to repurpose your content, you’ll be able to get the most out of your hard work.
Repurposing your content is critical to getting maximum value from each word you write.

22 Create an Editorial Calendar and Stick to It
Every successful blog has one thing in common: an editorial content calendar. This is a schedule of when you will publish each piece of content, and it helps to keep you organized and on track.
I don’t mean that you need to have every single post mapped out years in advance. However, you should have a good idea of what blog post ideas you want to cover and when you want to cover them. This will help you to stay on track and avoid writers block. It will also ensure that your blog is consistently updated with new content.
Without an editorial calendar, it can be all too easy to get behind on your blogging schedule. But with a little planning, you can easily create an editorial calendar that works for you.
Start by deciding how often you want to publish new content.
Once you have a frequency in mind, start brainstorming ideas for what you would like to write about.
Once you have a few ideas, begin mapping out when you will publish each piece. Be sure to schedule in some buffer time in case life gets in the way or you need to do additional research.
And finally, stick to your schedule! It may take some time to get into the habit of following your editorial calendar, but it will be worth it in the long run. Your readers will appreciate the consistency, and you’ll be able to breathe easy knowing that your blog is on track.
This calendar can be as simple as a spreadsheet with the topics you want to cover and the date you want to publish them.
Consistency is key when it comes to blogging, and an editorial calendar will help you to achieve it.
23 Blogging is a Long Game
Many people aspire to start a blog, but few are willing to put in the time and effort required to make it a success. It takes patience to build up a following, generate consistent content, and establish yourself as an expert in your field. However, the rewards can be great.
To become a successful blogger, you must see this as a marathon. This process can give you a platform to share your ideas with the world, connect with like-minded individuals, and even earn a living.
