SNM205: Start A Biz While Working Full Time

Here we are with another episode of our “be your own boss” series. We are getting so close to the finale I can almost hear it.

Speaking of hearing things, since you got so far, what you need to do now is to make a loud and clear statement/declaration that you are going to do this!

It doesn’t matter who you are declaring this to as long as you do it. Tell your wife, tell your friends, tell your dog, or just say it to yourself in front of the mirror, just let those words out.

Saying out loud that you are ready to do it means that your mindset in the right place and you are ready to take the next step.

The next step would be finding those free hours you can dedicate to your business before you quit your day job.

Even if it’s a few hours per week, and even if it’s a small budget at first will be enough to get you started.

Many people confuse not having time with wasting time. For example, watching a movie without the commercials will take you an hour and a half, while binging on the newest Netflix TV show will take far more from your precious time, so consider every hour you have if it’s worth wasting it.

Remember that you don’t need a big budget to start. Of course, it’s always easier but it’s not impossible. Furthermore, you have to know that every business expense should be earned back. It’s far more important to invest right than to invest a lot.

If you keep your mind towards that one goal and manage to stay on track and not go after the shiny objects every single investment you make will pay itself off further down the line.

Now you know what you have to do. You need to make a declaration, you need to focus your time, you need to make the right investment and you need to keep going.

What’s left? The only thing that’s left is the timing. There is no such thing as the “right time”. Start small, with only one hour per day, and when you feel you are ready, then quit your job. Don’t wait to get fired and most importantly don’t tell your co-workers what you are up to. You don’t need that negativity in your life.
