Starting your own publishing business can be a hustle, especially if you don’t know where to start. Should you write the book first, or set up the website, or create the Facebook ads?
The foundation of a successful business is writing the book first and you need to know how to strategically choose your niche. When you have a book, you have credibility and authority on which you can build your social media fame. If you are writing for a specific target audience, then it is essential to focus on work emails, getting contacts from the CEOs of the companies that might be interested in buying your book and sell your pitch to them. Get yourself invited to speaking engagements or conferences and always give a little something away for free. Who doesn’t like to get things for free?
The Three E’s Of Success
- Excellent: What Am I excellent at?
- Earn: Where can I earn money from?
- Everyone else, the audience you aspire to gain.
When you find the answer to these questions, then you are on your way to success.
In the end, the journey is just as important as the destination, and along the way you might face some paths you are not comfortable with. This doesn’t mean you should give up. You can always hire someone to help you, but, eventually, you will have to be the one to face the music. A good coach can be a lifesaver, but still don’t rely on other people when you know you can do it yourself.
