We’ve all had similar moments where we wonder if we are being treated fairly at work. Usually, it boils down to money. It’s time to know if you get paid what you are worth for doing the job you do. The question is how to do that?
Determine Value
The first step is to focus on your role at the company. What is your job title? What duties are you required to do each day? Are there other things you do that aren’t necessarily part of the job?
Once you have all of these things listed, you need to do some research. You want to know how to find out your worth, so you need to know what others are getting paid for similar job descriptions or duties.
It’s possible to ask an employment recruiter, or you can use the internet to search. Once you have an idea of your worth, the next question to ask is, are you getting paid fairly?

Are you making enough money so that you can live comfortably? In most cases, the answer is no. However, this can be for a variety of reasons. Yes, your boss could be taking advantage of you. Still, you may be living too high above your means for the amount of money you earn.
For example, if you’ve got a lot of debt, you may not make enough money to afford rent, utilities, food, and more. This isn’t necessarily your boss’s fault, and once you take care of the issue, you are going to have more to spend. How to Know if Your Boss Is Ripping You Off
Is your boss ripping you off? Sadly, the answer could be yes. If other employees are doing similar work and get paid much more, then you are being ripped off. The same applies to people in other companies who get paid more for doing the same job.
What is your value on the market? That’s the question you’re asking yourself and what you need to find out. Then, you can take the necessary steps to rectify the issue. This may mean asking for a raise or finding another job where you are valued for what you do.
While it’s scary to rock the boat, it’s essential that you earn enough money to live and want to go to work each day because you feel that the company values your skills.
Listen to today’s episode to find out if your boss is ripping you off.
