LIST OF CREATIVE POST TOPICS TO MAKE YOUR BLOG STAND OUT
PAST YEAR REFLECTIONS: ACHIEVEMENTS AND FAILURES
Reflect on the past year. It’s been an awkward one, but think about where you are at right now. What have you achieved and what didn’t go according to plan?
HOW HAS 2020 TREATED YOU?
Times are weird and everyone has been affected in one way or another. How about you, what did you have to do to adapt to the new circumstances? Comfort your readers that we are all in this together. Don’t be afraid to get personal.
NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS
Once you are done reflecting on life, think about what you would like to achieve in the new year. Set your resolutions, but be realistic and precise!
HOW TO START AN ONLINE BUSINESS
Those of you who have been running an online business for a while can share some helpful tips and tricks with your readers. How did you start your blog? What were the challenges and how did you overcome them?
FAVORITE BLOGS / BLOGGERS
Dedicate a whole new year article to your favorite blogs and bloggers that you discovered the previous year. Whose posts have you enjoyed reading the most? Let your audience know!
A-Z posts are a great and fun way of brainstorming different themes/topics related to your business, which then you can use as ideas for the new year.
BEST 2020 POSTS
Create a list of your top 10 2020 posts that marked the year. They can be posts that reached most people (aka were most popular in terms of likes, comments, and shares) or blog articles that you enjoyed writing the most. It’s totally up to you.
DIGITAL SCAVENGER HUNT
This one’s my favorite! Unleash your imagination and create a digital scavenger hunt! Design a theme and Easter eggs that you can hide in your already existing blog articles. Reward the first 3 readers that will find the Easter eggs and complete the digital scavenger hunt!
HOW ARE YOU GOING TO SPEND THE HOLIDAYS?
It’s great to post often and to engage with your readers, but sometimes you just need to take a break. It is the holiday season, after all! Share how you are going to spend December and January.
Career goals always make great blog articles and they increase blog traffic! Tell your readers why you are setting these exact goals and how you plan on achieving them.
INDUSTRY EVENT SUMMARY?
Summarize the main events and problems that you encountered in 2020. What are your fellow bloggers saying? What can you do next to support each other?
COURSES YOUR READERS SHOULD ENROLL IN
List the best or all of the great courses/webinars that you attended in 2020. You can rank them, list their prices, and explain why you recommend them to your audience.
TOP TRAVELING DESTINATIONS
I know, our traveling options are very limited right now. But we can always daydream and update our bucket list, right? Or share past experiences, both great and not so great ones. What places have you visited or would love to visit? Write a great blog article and add useful information about the destinations.
Interest in blogging often stems from an interest in books. If you have engaged yourself in the art of writing, don’t be shy to showcase your talent. Offer your readers free previews of chapters from your book(s) or short stories that you have written. If you capture their interest, they’ll be sure to purchase the whole package.
NEW YEAR GOALS
Set your new year goals, but think of ways in which you can achieve them, as well. What are you going to focus your full attention on? How do you get back on track if you get distracted?
ANSWER POPULAR QUESTIONS
Have a virtual Q&A with your fans on any of your preferred social media. Then make your answers and video available by including them in a new blog article.
NEW YEAR, NEW HABITS
A new year is a chance you’ve been waiting for to start over with a clean slate. Now’s the time to think about improving yourself. How are you going to do that? What habits are you going to adopt and how are you going to track your progress?
DO THE SAME ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS
Now do the same again but with your business in mind. What are you going to do to improve your blog content and grow your audience?
WHY DID YOU START THIS BUSINESS/BLOG?
Share the inspiration behind your blog. How did you become interested in your niche? Why did you become a blogger? Is it your full-time occupation? What do your readers need to get started?
PERSONAL & BUSINESS PLANNER
If you want to start the new year prepared, you are going to need a planner to track your progress. You can customize it as you like it, and you can share it with your readers (one great idea is to have them download it by subscribing to your newsletter). If you are new to this, there are many websites and online tools that can help you create your first planner.
In addition to the planner, you can offer your readers free printables to help them stay organized. They can be of various types: blog stats, habit trackers, budget worksheets, monthly and weekly spreadsheets, to-do lists… the possibilities are endless.
HOLD A WEBINAR AND THEN PRESENT THE KEY POINTS
It can be you only or you can invite other speakers as well. The webinar can last for an hour or multiple days. It can be live or you can prerecord it. You decide. After it’s done, create one (or more) blog articles in which you will present the key takeaways, which will be available at all times both to your fans that attended the webinar and those that didn’t.
5 YEARS FROM NOW
Take a pen and paper and draw your current self on the one side and your future self on the other. Take notes. Many influential bloggers have been practicing this exercise for a reason. Write where you are and how you feel at the moment, and think about where you see yourself 5 years from now. How would you like to feel later on in life? How do you get there? Post the drawings and your conclusions.
TRY A NEW PRODUCT AND WRITE A REVIEW
These ideas for your blog can be very valuable for your followers, as they always want to hear your honest opinion. What better way to boost traffic and increase the number of your subscribers than to give an honest review on a popular product?
NEW APPS THAT YOU HAVE DISCOVERED RECENTLY
New apps are launched every day! Share which ones you use on a daily basis to help you manage your business and increase productivity.
A DAY IN YOUR LIFE
I sure know that being a full-time blogger requires your utmost dedication. What does a day in your blogger's life look like? What do you do before publishing a new post on your blog? Let your fans know!
INVITE GUEST BLOGGERS
Invite other famous bloggers or experts that are in the same niche to guest write blog articles for you (and vice versa). It would be great if they are knowledgeable about a specific topic or field. They can share their experience. Plus, they can answer questions from the readers.
ENGAGE YOUR READERS
Have fans send you blog post ideas about what they would like to read next from you. Then, have them choose the one that they find the most interesting. Write a blog article on the idea that gets the most votes.
Make a list of all the brands you are collaborating with. Share coupon codes with your followers, so that they can get discounts on apps/tools that you are advertising on your blog.
BIGGEST MISTAKES MADE IN YOUR INDUSTRY
I’m sure you have already noticed common mistakes that people make in your niche. Especially bloggers who are not informing properly or thoroughly enough. Explain why these mistakes are made and what can be done to prevent them from happening.
New Year Blog Post FAQ
How do I write a 2021 blog post?
My advice would be to plan ahead. Think about the direction in which you want to go and what you want to achieve with that post. Don’t forget that you are serving your audience! Don’t be lazy and do some research, especially if you are going to talk about some well-known facts or other people. But don’t overthink it, either. Stop hesitating and start writing.
The idea of writing blog ideas, especially now, can seem a bit daunting. You might question yourself and your creative abilities or you might wonder how you can find and reach people interested in what you have to say.
Most importantly, you might worry about how you are going to take care of the ideas of your blog, and rightfully so. Essentially, that’s the message that you are sending out there.

If you are already an established blogger, you should definitely devote your energy to your first 2021 post. It can be a fresh start both for you and for your blog.
Just think about the structure of the post and the information that you want to share. What do you want your readers to come away with after reading the post?
Are you going to mention current events and feelings? You can use some of the ideas for new posts that I suggested above. Keep on reading to find out all the writing tips I have for you.
You can go a step further and develop a theme that you will be building on throughout the year. Have a number of posts dedicated to one major category that you are keen on and experienced in (say, affiliate marketing, Italian cuisine, etc).
Bonus tip: if you can afford it, refresh your blog by investing in a new visual look. Your readers will be happy to see that you are putting time and effort into it. Trust me, it will pay off!
Is blogging still relevant in 2021?
Yes – a short answer. Optinmonster shared data for 2019 – There were more than 500 million existing blogs. Tumblr had more than 440 million blogs and WordPress accounted for about 60 million blogs worldwide. Blogging has grown by 12% since 2015.
And here goes the long answer. We are living in a digital era. Whatever you do, you have to make sure that people can find you online. Many believe that blogging is becoming less relevant amid the plethora of social media, but I strongly disagree!
Social media come and go, but blogs are here to stay. Think of your blog as your own portfolio or as a little corner where you can express yourself freely. You are your own boss, as every aspect of it depends entirely on you.
Besides, you have all of your thoughts in one place and you can easily track and analyze your progress and communication with your audience. Your writing skills will be thankful!
And by being constantly active and posting, you subtly let your future collaborators and clients know that you are up and running. You solve their problems and you get paid for it! How cool is that?!
What should I post on my first blog?
With so many blogs around, you might easily get discouraged even before you type the first word of your first blog post! But don’t indulge in negative thinking. Instead, try to be as pragmatic about it as possible. You are there to offer solutions to your readers.
So, how do you start? Jot down ideas in your phone or notebook whenever they pop up in your mind. Write them down so that you don’t forget them.
Next, pick one. I would recommend that you start right away with the topic that you know better than anything else. Sharing your expertise will give you the boost of confidence that we all need from time to time. Before posting, make sure to do thorough research and add keywords and appealing images.
How do I come up with a blog post?
Coming up with ideas for the new posts can be tricky. Even after you set off and establish your blog and writing style, you may still find it difficult to maintain content consistency.
So, what do you do when that happens?
First, think about what your audience would like to read. What questions would they like to get answered? What are they interested in? What things do they care about? How can you help them?
Second, go on and check other blogs. Take a close look at your competition. What are they writing about? What are they overlooking? What pieces are missing? Can you write on that? Keep in mind to work on new angles that will differentiate you from the crowd.
