Setup n8n on Hostinger

For too much time is spent every single day on boring, repetitive tasks.

It’s an alternative to Zapier that’s hundreds of times cheaper and significantly more powerful.

The only difficulty with n8n (pronounced “nodemation”) is setting it up for the first time.

You have to host it on your own online server and that can be a daunting task.

The first time I setup n8n, I used Digital Ocean and I had to spend a lot of time in the command line and honestly…it was really hard.

Fortunately, Hostinger just created a massive shortcut.

They’ve basically got a magic button that installs n8n for you during setup.

No more messing with any command line stuff. No more steep learning curve. No more update headaches.

Your Step-by-Step Guide to Set UP n8n on Hostinger (The Easy Way)

Follow these steps precisely. This whole process should take you less than 10 minutes.

It all starts by heading to the Hostinger n8n page.

Step 1: Choose Your Hostinger VPS Plan

The plans range from about five to twenty bucks a month. For an n8n server, I found that the KVM 2 plan which is $7 a month is the sweet spot. It gives you more than enough headroom to run dozens of automations and AI agents without slowing down anything.

Step 2: Start the Hostinger Onboarding

Place your order and then Hostinger will help you get setup.

The first decision is the physical location of your VPS.

You either want this close to where you live or close to where your clients live, if they will be the main ones interacting with your automations.

Step 3: the n8n Template

This is the most important part. When you get to the step for choosing your server’s operating system or application. Don’t click on one of the obvious Linux options.

Click on the search bar and enter “n8n”

You will see the little, red n8n logo and the option to install n8n directly rather than going through setting up an operating system first.

There is a bunch of information on this little popup letting you know that it will install all the other code you need to get n8n up and running.

But we don’t care about that.

We just want n8n to work the first time.

Hit that big purple select button.

Step 4: Set Your VPS Root Password

You can setup all your passwords on this page and if you want to connect to your server using ssh, this is where you can add an ssh key.

If you have no idea what that is, it doesn’t matter with this setup.

You don’t need it.

Step 5: Finish the VPS Setup

You can finish the setup now and on the final step you will see a spot to go to the VPS Dashboard.

Just click on “Manage VPS.”

Step 6: Access Your New n8n Instance

N8n is already installed and ready to run. You just need to access it.

From the VPS dashbard, click on “Manage App” right next to the n8n icon.

This will take you straight to your n8n installation, so you don’t have to memorize any dns codes.

One click and you’re now inside your personal n8n server.

Step 7: Set Up Your n8n Owner Account

The first time you access your n8n instance via the browser, it will prompt you to create the main administrative user (the “owner” account).

Fill this out and make sure to use a secure password as this is the main password that you will be using to control n8n.

Very rarely will you ever need to go back into Hostinger.

When you’re done, select NEXT.

You will get a chance to grab a free license key and it’s worth it.

Enter your email address and n8n will send one to you instantly that unlocks more features…all for free!

The hard works is finished. You’ve now installed n8n and you can build your first automation.
